About: Dr. Lynn M. Gangone

DR. LYNN M. GANGONE DEAN, UNIVERSITY OF DENVER- COLORADO WOMEN’S COLLEGE LEADERSHIP In spring 2007, Lynn M. Gangone, EdD was named dean of the University of Denver - Colorado Women’s College and associate clinical professor of higher education at the Morgridge College of Education. The college's mission is to educate women to boldly lead in the communities where they live, work, and engage. Dr. Gangone is committed to building women's educational environments that strengthen self-confidence, enhance leadership capacity, and empower girls and women to develop strong peer relationships. Dr. Gangone was a visiting professor at the George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development and a strategic planning consultant with Kaludis Consulting prior to her tenure at DU. She has served higher education as a faculty member, administrator, association executive, and lobbyist and policy analyst. PUBLICATIONS, PRESENTATIONS & RESEARCH Dr. Gangone is a champion of women’s leadership in the new economy. She is often called upon for her expert opinion by organizations like Rocky Mountain PBS, the International Leadership Association-Women and Leadership Affinity Group, The SmartGirls’ Way, TEDxMileHighWomen, TIAA-CREF and others who are interested in empowering women. She authored the lead article in the inaugural Journal About Women in Higher Education (2008) and a book chapter on women’s leadership development in Rethinking Leadership in a Complex, Multicultural, and Global Environment: New Concepts and Models for Higher Education (2009). She serves on the faculty of the Women’s Leadership Institute, the HERS Institutes for Women in Higher Education Administration, and the Midwest Women’s Leadership Institute, and is the leadership content expert for the American Physical Therapy Association Emerging Leaders Institute; she keynotes at various local, national, and international conferences and seminars on women’s leadership across sectors, as well as the status of women and girls nationally and globally. She co-created the Institute for Emerging Women Leaders in Higher Education, an American Council on Education award-winning leadership development program. Her research interests include higher education history, and women’s leadership development and advancement, and non-profit organizational viability. HONORS, SERVICE & ACCOLADES Dr. Gangone was recently honored as one of the Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Colorado (Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce), as well as one of the 2013 "Women Making History" (Colorado Black Women for Political Action). Other honors include Woman of Distinction (Girl Scouts of Colorado) and the University of Denver Center for Multicultural Excellence’s “Outstanding Achievement in Multicultural Excellence” award. She is president-elect of the Colorado Chapter of the International Women’s Forum. Dr. Gangone serves on various boards including Public Service Credit Union (Board Secretary and Executive Committee Member), Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) Research and Policy Institute Advisory Board, HERS: Advancing Women Leaders in Higher Education, and the Girl Scouts of Colorado as a member of their Women of Distinction selection committee. She was honored by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) as a Diamond Honoree and by The College of New Rochelle with the Ursula Laurus citation. EDUCATION She received an Ed.D. and M.Ed. in higher and postsecondary administration from Columbia University; an M.S. and C.A.S. in counseling psychology from the State University of New York at Albany; and a B.A. in political science from The College of New Rochelle (New York).
